Grown slow, picked ripe
Cotton grows for months under the sun and is picked only when the bolls burst open, soft as fresh snow. Some days it's hard not to jump in.
Six layers of soft cotton gauze, finished the old way. Here is how one of our blankets comes to life.
The Muslin Loom started with a simple idea: a blanket should feel better the longer you own it.
Muslin has been woven for centuries, a light and breathable cotton gauze that relaxes with every wash.
We stack six layers of it into one blanket, so you get the airy feel of muslin with the weight and comfort of a proper blanket.
We make it the slow way, in seven steps from the cotton field to your bed, and we give you 99 nights to be sure you love it.
Muslin has been woven for centuries. Ours still follows the same 7 steps, from a cotton field to your bed.
Cotton grows for months under the sun and is picked only when the bolls burst open, soft as fresh snow. Some days it's hard not to jump in.
The raw cotton is cleaned of seeds and leaves, then carded: wire-covered drums comb the fibres into a soft, airy web that gathers in tall cans.
From the cans, the soft cotton is drawn straight into the spinning machine, which stretches it, twists it into a fine, gentle yarn and winds it onto bobbins.
Hundreds of bobbins are lined up on a tall rack, and their threads are laid side by side onto one big roller: the warp, the backbone of every blanket.
On the loom, 6 layers of open gauze are woven at the same time and joined at tiny points, so they breathe separately but move as one.
The fabric is washed and tumble-dried. The layers shrink and bloom into muslin's signature crinkle, and arrive already soft.
Every blanket is cut, hemmed and inspected by hand, then folded and sent on its way to your bed.
Use it, wash it, live with it. If it isn't the softest blanket you've ever owned, send it back within 99 nights and we'll refund you in full.
